چکیده

We investigate the injection of degenerate Fermi-Dirac electrons into a multimode ballistic conductor under the space-charge-limited regime. The nonequilibrium current fluctuations were found to be suppressed by both Coulomb and Fermi correlations. We show that the Fermi shot-noise-suppression factor is limited below by the value 2kBT/«F , where T is the temperature and «F the Fermi energy of the injected electrons. The Coulomb noise suppression factor may attain much lower values «F/2qU , because of its dependence on the applied bias U@kBT/q . The asymptotic behavior of the overall shot-noise suppression factor in a high degenerate limit was found to be kBT/qU , independent of the material parameters.

In this paper, the experiment proved that shot noise is suppressed by Fermi and Coulomb interaction correlation. And on this basis the variatio...

Shot-noise suppression in multimode ballistic Fermi conductors

We have derived a general formula describing current noise in multimode ballistic channels connecting source and drain electrodes with Fermi electron gas. In particular ~at eV@kBT), the expression describes the nonequilibrium ‘‘shot’’ noise, which may be suppressed by both Fermi correlations and space charge screening. The general formula has been applied to an approximate model of a two-dimens...

Semiclassical theory of shot noise in ballistic n-i-n semiconductor structures: Relevance of Pauli and long-range Coulomb correlations

We work out a semiclassical theory of shot noise in ballistic n-i-n semiconductor structures aiming at studying two fundamental physical correlations coming from Pauli exclusion principle and long-range Coulomb interaction. The theory provides a unifying scheme which, in addition to the current-voltage characteristics, describes the suppression of shot noise due to Pauli and Coulomb correlation...

Shot-noise anomalies in nondegenerate elastic diffusive conductors

We present a theoretical investigation of shot-noise properties in nondegenerate elastic diffusive conductors. Both Monte Carlo simulations and analytical approaches are used. Two interesting phenomena are found: ~i! the display of enhanced shot noise for given energy dependences of the scattering time, and ~ii! the recovery of full shot noise for asymptotic high applied bias. The first phenome...

Semiclassical theory of shot noise in mesoscopic conductors

A semiclassical theory is developed for time-dependent current fluctuations in mesoscopic conductors. The theory is based on the Boltzmann-Langevin equation for a degenerate electron gas. The low-frequency shot-noise power is related to classical transmission probabilities at the Fermi level. For a disordered conductor with impurity scattering, it is shown how the shot noise crosses over from z...
